Native to the Brazilian rainforest, the rattlesnake plant thrives in moist, warm, semi-shady climates. If conditions are just right, the plant produces bright, yellow-orange blooms in late spring and early summer.
Calathea rattlesnake plant in a footed pot. Keep Thea out of direct sunlight to avoid scorching her beautiful leaves.
About Calathea Rattlesnake Plant
The scientific name is Calathea lancifolia.
The one shown in the listing pictures may not necessarily be the plant being sent.
One of the best indoor ornamental houseplants, Rattlesnake Calathea has long, medium green leaves with dark decorative spots. The undersides of the leaves are a deep purple. A beautiful accent plant for the home or patio, Calathea lancifolia can grow up to 30” tall. This Calathea is one of the most resistant to tip-and-edge-browning, being virtually free of that cultural issue. As with others in this family, keep the soil evenly moist and grow in a well-drained potting mix.
Quite the scene stealer, this 6” bold and bright beauty has roots in the tropics of Brazil, so her wavy, tricolored leaves thrive in warm, semi-shady environments with humidity or frequent mists. She’s settled into a playful, footed ceramic pot that’s sure to be a conversation starter.
